7. I changed the fluid in my HSW630A and it looks like a strawberry shake. What's going on?
You've got water in your transmission. The most likely cause is a failure in the oil cooler, which would allow water to pass through to your transmission.
- Drain the transmission fluid and remove the old cooler.
- Remove the filter and flush it well with ATF to remove moisture from the filter.
- Refill the transmission with new ATF and run it for a short time in order to flush as much water from the system as possible.
- Run the transmission just long enough to get it warmed up; not hot.
- Flush the fluids and clean the filter again. You may have to do this a couple more times to ensure that all the moisture has been cleared from the system.
- Clean the oil cooler lines and replace the oil cooler.
- Replace the filter and refill the transmission with new ATF.
- Run the transmission again in order to fill the cooler and lines then top it off.
If the damage was caught early enough, you may be ok.
